“Warhol’s Jews: Ten Portraits Reconsidered”

Nearly 28 years after the Jewish Museum first displayed Warhol’s Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century, the Pop master’s renderings of Einstein, Freud, Gershwin and other luminaries get another viewing. A companion exhibit, “Art, Image and Warhol Connections,” features 26 works by a multigenerational roster of artists, including Alex Katz, Ben Shahn and Deborah Kass, addressing themes central to Warhol’s world—current events, mass culture, the superstar—and the artist himself.
